Athene in the Community
Athene was set up in 2003 with the specific aims of adding value to our clients, providing our consultants with the means to make a living and a life and with a commitment to supporting the communities we live in.
That support ranges from an annual charitable giving programme to the adoption of genuinely flexible working practices that allow members of the team to give time during work hours to support communities and charities of their choice.
Through our annual charitable giving programme we are committed to donating at least 1% of after tax profits to charities or communities operating in the Peterborough area. In 2010 we supported Bridgegate Drugs Services, the New Ark Play Scheme, New Hope Minisiteries and Peterborough Shop Mobility.
Richard Astle, our Managing Director, is chairman of SHINE and a Trustee of Vivacity, the charitable leisure trust. He also runs a local conservation trust that owns or manages four community nature reserves and was Treasurer of the regional wildlife trusts between 2005-10. Rebecca Stephens is a Trustee of Cambridgeshire NHS Foundation Trust.
Athene also has an active approach to reducing its environmental impacts. The company is accredited to the Investors in the Environment Scheme.
