Peterborough Communicators' Network
Athene Communications also organises a forum for people in the Peterborough area involved in PR, communications and marketing which provides an opportunity for them to come together to network, exchange ideas and share best practice. The network is also somewhere you can turn to when looking for help and advice or just a second opinion on your communication plans and activities. Membership is informal, free and open to anyone.
The Peterborough Communicators’ Network meets quarterly and invites guest speakers such as Mark Edwards, the editor of the Evening Telegraph and Bob Hogg from Marketing Ability.
For more information on how you could be involved in the Network or to attend any Network events, please contact Hannah Barrett: hannah@athene-communications.co.uk Tel: 01733 207340

Perfect Press Releases
Tuesday 24 March 2009
Eco-Innovation Centre, City Road, Peterborough, 4pm- 6pm
With newspaper and magazine editors receiving hundreds of press releases a week, how can you make your story s tand out from the crowd? We asked Mark Edwards, editor of the Evening Telegraph, and Sharon McAllister, editor of local lifestyle magazine ESP, to come along and tell us what they look for in a press release. This session offers plenty of opportunity for you to ask the editors your questions, such as what they feel makes a newsworthy story and how to get your press release noticed. The session also allows time for us to exchange tips and recommendations to help us improve our own writing and media relations techniques.
Death by PowerPoint
Monday 8 December 2008
Eco-Innovation Centre, City Road, Peterborough, 4pm- 6pm.
Have you ever sat through a dull presentation? Does the thought of watching yet another person take you through yet another set of PowerPoint slides fill you with dread? Then come along to the next Peterborough Communicators’ Network session, where we will look at the good, the bad and the ugly of presentation techniques to ensure you don’t make the same mistake. And why not enter our very own presentation competition and have the chance to win our Christmas prize?
Richard Groom of Peterborough Copywriting Bureau will be on hand to answer your presentation queries and also to pass on some hints and tips on how you can create interesting and interactive presentations that engage your audience.
You could even be leaving the meeting with a bottle of champagne if you enter our presentation competition! To make the event as beneficial as possible, we invite you to enter a five-minute presentation on “Why I love/hate PowerPoint” or “Why I love/hate Christmas!” We will use the presentations to learn from each other’s techniques.
The session will be held on Monday 8 December, beginning at 4pm, for mince pies and informal networking and will finish at around 6pm. A change of venue this time, with the meeting being held at Peterborough’s Eco-Innovation Centre on City Road.
