Another year and another Peterborough Regional PR & Media Awards has passed us by. Thank you to all those who took part by nominating your teams and colleagues – it was a stellar year for PR, Comms and Media in the region.
While the competition was fierce, there had to be some winners and here are yours for 2017:
Communications Campaign of the Year
Highly Commended – Urban&Civic – Alconbury Weald
For using strong, clean and consistent messaging and design to communicate and work with a diverse range of stakeholders in the development of their Enterprise Campus.
Highly Commended – Protect Rural Peterborough
For their campaign that set a great example of how communities can use the power of offline and online communications to create a coherent set of strategic communications messages and influence key people and stakeholders on a national, regional and local level.
WINNER – North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust
For delivering both internal messaging for 6,000 staff and external messaging to the wider public on the launch of the new Trust; the comms team created a new brand in-house and aligned the trust website and launch to ensure a smooth transition.
Best Use of Social Media
Highly Commended – Harriet O’Shea & Jill Judd – Sacrewell Farm
For their pro-active approach to utilising Facebook, Twitter and YouTube – increasing followers across the board – to deliver key messages and engage with visitors and followers in a fun, friendly and educational way.
WINNER – Nene Park Trust
For their dedicated and emotive social media campaign following vandalism attacks in the park that helped raise awareness – with posts reaching over 400,000 people – and resulted in £6,500 in visitor donations towards repairs as well as TV, Radio and Print media who used the content to form their stories.
Creative Campaign of the Year
Highly Commended – Speed Agency
For their North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust Recruitment Campaign which focused on a ‘career without compromise’ and used video, social and traditional media as well as recruitment fayres to generate 100 appointments to the hospital since 2017.
WINNER – Brave Agency
For their forward thinking re-branding of Nene Park’s visual identity – embracing the history and beauty of the landscape in order to create a strong, easily identifiable brand that unifies all mediums and channels in setting the Park apart in its own right.
Internal Communications Campaign of the Year
Highly Commended – Peterborough City Council Internal Comms Team
For their procurement, development and launch of a new intranet app to 2,000 employees and councillors in just three months – with 95% of employees logging-on on launch day and consistent engagement since.
WINNER – Royal HaskoningDHV
For their inaugural UK Unity Awards launched to recognise and celebrate colleagues’ achievements in the UK across the year. The awards saw over 40% of staff recognised by nominations and an average engagement on internal communications of 80%!
Journalist of the Year
Highly Commended – Ben Jolley – Archant
Working across a number of Archant titles, including Cambs Times, Ben has been diligent in his journalism – handling stories big and small with great care and attention.
Highly Commended – Brad Barnes – Peterborough Telegraph
As a veteran of the Peterborough Telegraph team, Brad has been hugely influential in what is now a growing food and drink scene within Peterborough and his work to launch and maintain the weekly entertainment supplement within the paper is a huge testament to his work ethic and talent.
WINNER – Emma Baugh – BBC
As a reporter for the BBC for a number of years Emma continues to be driven by a passion for community-led stories and can often be seen around Peterborough – often playing the roles of both reporter and camerawoman! She has embraced social media fully and is a great example of the modern journalist.
Communicator of the Year
Highly Commended – Lauren George – ABAX
Lauren has risen from a placement as a Marketing Assistant to the UK Marketing Coordinator for ABAX. She has helped increase engagement with customers and audiences on ABAX’s digital channels, while also driving the ABAX sponsorship partnership with Peterborough United Football Club, ensuring maximum brand value for both sides.
WINNER – Pep Cipriano – Peterborough City Council
Highly thought of by many notable figures in the Peterborough community, Pep has continued his work promoting the best of Peterborough – including ensuring that the Great Eastern Run remains a successful key date in the cities calendar. It is a testament to his character that we received nominations from charities, business owners and former mayors alike for this award.
Communications Team of the Year
Highly Commended – Cambridgeshire Fire & Rescue Service
A small but dedicated team, driven by a passion for their work, the Cambs Fire & Rescue Service comms team work hard to cover all aspects of the service, from education to fire fighting and they do so over a wide and diverse region – embracing social media as a tool to reach the community directly; as well as traditional media.
WINNER – Peterborough City Council
As the role of communications grows and the demands increase the Peterborough City Council comms team have met these challenges head-on – ensuring the continued promotion of Peterborough in both local and national media, while going further to introduce new and better ways of ensuring the public remains informed on news and events throughout the year.
