Peterborough celebrates its 100th Future Jobs Fund employee, 08 March 2010

The Peterborough Future Jobs Fund has now employed its 100th young person. The Government’s Future Jobs Fund, has led to the creation of 167 jobs for young people in our city. The scheme has been a resounding success, with over 20 public and voluntary sector organisations coming together to create jobs for young people who have been out of employment between 26 and 50 weeks.

Surrey man, Andy Butler is currently training to swim the English Channel. Andy, 41 from Godalming, decided to take on this rare challenge whilst enjoying a leisurely swim at his local baths last year. What first appeared to be a crazy idea quickly turned into a reality as Andy began to seriously consider swimming the 21 miles from Dover to Calais to raise money for the Surrey Association of Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (Surrey ASBAH).

Plaque Unveils Completion of Parnwell Community Centre Garden, 23 October 2008

Councillor Mark Collins will unveil a plaque to signify the completion of Parnwell Community Centre Garden on Friday 24 October. The initial idea of developing the garden was formulated by the Parnwell Family Project, who use the Parnwell Community Centre daily to provide pre-school education for local children. The project received funding from the Big Lottery Fair Share Programme early this year and work at the garden quickly commenced.
