Athene Communications

The Athene Way

Athene Communications was set up in 2003 by Richard Astle with the specific objectives of building a company that not only delivers real value to its clients, but also provides its consultants with both the means to make a living and, through the adoption of genuinely flexible working practices, to make a life.

Athene also seeks to play an active role in the local community, beyond making donations to charities.  Richard Astle, for instance, is also chairman of the national charity, the Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus and is a director of the Wildlife Trusts of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Northampton and Peterborough. He is also part of a countryside trust that runs a small nature reserve in north-west Cambridge. Richard also recently raised £1,200 for the Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus by completing the Great Eastern Run held in Peterborough on 15 October 2006.

Account Director, Jane Smith also plays an active role in her local community, editing her village’s newsletter and running two village websites – www.cottinghamnews.co.uk and www.cottinghamhistory.co.uk. She is also chairman of the Cottingham Parish Plan Steering Group which is seeking to obtain villagers’ views and aspirations to help plan for the future.
