Norwegian football star launches ABAX Academy

ABAX Academy 2Highly-rated Norwegian football player Martin Samuelsen has launched ABAX’s new recruitment programme.

The teenage forward, currently on loan at Peterborough United from West Ham United, was invited to learn about the work the technology company carries out, in particular the new ABAX Academy.

The ABAX Academy provides an opportunity for people, with a focus on school and college leavers, to have a four week training course where they will participate in a mix of theoretical and practical training.

All participants on the programme will be paid and receive a diploma for a completed course. The best students will be offered a full time sales role with ABAX.

Three ABAX Academy programmes are scheduled for 2016 and a further four in 2017.

Chris Miller, Chief Executive of ABAX UK, said: “The recent buyout of the UK franchise by ABAX signified the start of an extensive growth strategy for the company.

“Our headquarters will be in Peterborough and by the end of 2016 we aim to have nearly 100 employees operating out of this city and from new offices in London, Manchester and Birmingham.

“To do this we will need excellent employees and the ABAX Academy is the ideal entry point.

“It is aimed at younger people, for example students or people just coming out of school, but everyone is welcome to apply.

“I would like to thank Martin for backing the ABAX Academy, finding out about the company, our ambitions and our partnership with the Posh.“

The academy is based on ABAX’s successful training school model for its new starters, and there are plans to develop similar academies in all the other countries the company operates in, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and the Netherlands.

ABAX’s head office is based in the Norwegian town of Larvik, and eighteen-year-old Samuelsen is well known in his native country.

Samuelsen started his football career at a young age and understands the importance of  working hard and seizing opportunities.

Samuelsen left Norway in 2012 to join Manchester City’s youth academy. He then signed a permanent contract with West Ham United in June 2015 and has been on loan at Peterborough United since November, impressing in the 4-0 win against Scunthorpe United.

Martin Samuelsen added: “Seeing a Norwegian-based company prominently supporting Peterborough United is great to see. ABAX clearly has big ambitions for Peterborough and the UK.

“I am pleased to show my support to the ABAX Academy which will give many young people the opportunity to start a career. I have earned many opportunities in my football career and understand the importance of getting support to help me fulfil my ambitions and reach my goal as a successful professional footballer.”

ABAX signed a five year partnership deal with Peterborough in November 2014 – with the club’s ground now known as the ABAX Stadium.
