Charity Challenge – our 2016 fundraising

Leg 1

Our Managing Director Richard Astle has challenged the Athene team to raise money for the company’s two chosen charities for 2016.

The charities are Shine Charity and the YMCA Cambridgeshire & Peterborough and the aim is to raise an initial total of £2,000. Athene will then match fund the final total.

Our first challenge was set in the pre-Christmas fortnight.

We split into our 3 teams – PR, Community Engagement and Finance/Consultants – and were each given a budget of £30 to spend, if required, to then raise further money for charity.

The Community Engagement and Finance/Consultants team both decided to use the money to create a luxury Christmas hamper with raffle tickets then sold for one lucky winner to scoop a bumper prize.

For the PR team, Account Manager Ryan Hyman stepped up to the challenge by offering to have his legs waxed. His colleagues duly obliged his noble gesture.

In total, around £600 was raised by the 3 teams and 2016 has yet to begin. Thank you to those of you who have donated to the challenges to far, and to Shine’s Darren Fower who came along to give support and film clips of Ryan’s leg wax here. Ouch!
