And… breathe! We’ve reached the end of another set of Results Days and for the first time ever, we’ve tackled both in the same week. We caught up with Account Manager, Mark Pearson, to get his thoughts:
“The focus for exams was less on gradings and percentages this year, and more on the outstanding achievement of those students who proudly secured a set of qualifications to help set them up for life.
And, given the last 18 months, that felt just right. For students taking this year’s GCSEs and A-levels, their courses have been heavily disrupted. They’ve had to dig deep to motivate themselves. For many weeks, learning was from a laptop on a makeshift desk at home, rather than the in person, sociable, teaching experience they had known before. They didn’t moan or argue, they got on with it.
This week we have been working with MAT Senior Leadership Teams and Headteachers to make sure the efforts of their students don’t go unheralded. While last year we weren’t able to visit schools as the Government restrictions on socialising were strict, this year we could go back to schools. Even better, we could invite regional media along, too.
Our Education team – Ryan Hyman, Sam Ladds, Tom Evans, Chloe Martyres, Jasmine Hudson – drafted press releases, statements and social media posts; proofed copy, and issued copy for almost 40 secondary schools and colleges.
We had coverage in print, online, on the radio and on TV. A highlight being Cedars Upper School, in Bedfordshire, featuring in ITV national news. Thank you to all the media titles and reporters for their interest and coverage.
And now the exams’ season is all over earlier this year. Normally the start of term is just around the corner but this year, teachers and students have the remainder of August to relax and recharge. We look forward to seeing them all back in September. Below are some stats on our work this week.”
At Athene Communications, we are proud to work with a number of multi-academy trusts and schools across East Anglia and beyond. From infant schools in Bedfordshire, to secondary schools in Thurrock.
