Kirby Muxloe, Leicestershire

Athene Communications has delivered a variety of tailored pre-application public consultations for William Davis Homes, ranging from large-scale mixed-use developments to smaller developments of exclusive executive homes.

In 2019, Athene was appointed to deliver a stakeholder and public consultation on a proposal for approximately 48 homes in Kirby Muxloe, Leicestershire.

The Process

Athene produced an audit which identified the key stakeholders who it would be important to communicate with and developed an engagement strategy for the consultation.

As part of the consultation process, information regarding the proposal and promoting the consultation was circulated via letters to stakeholders; a newsletter to local residents; posters displayed in the local area; and a designated website which included access to an online survey. This ensured that local residents and councillors were kept up-to-date and able to provide feedback on the proposal. Residents and stakeholders were also able to provide feedback via a consultation email address and Freepost address.

Athene also organised and facilitated a meeting with the local Parish Council as well as some focused consultation sessions with local residents who had provided feedback.

The Result

Having considered the feedback received, William Davis made a number of changes to the proposal including the introduction of a pedestrian crossing close to the site.

Athene produced a Statement of Community Involvement to support the planning application, demonstrating how the proposal had been communicated effectively to the community, setting out the feedback received and how the proposal had been amended in response to this. The planning application for this development has been submitted and is currently awaiting determination.
